Looking for some fun ways to stay active with loved ones during the cold months? The McCormick area is a great place to stay connected to nature while staying active during the winter. Here are some fun activities close to McCormick to enjoy the winter weather in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
It seems now more than ever people are taking up the sport of snow skiing or boarding, which is a great way to spend time outdoors with friends and family. You can find some nearby mountains like Hurricane Ridge at Port Angeles in Washington state if you want something easy enough for beginners but still provide a challenge to those who have experience on their backs! Other popular spots include The Summit of Snoqualmie Pass just east of Seattle or Crystal Mountain near Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park, where there truly is no such thing as too strong winds.
If you are looking for a slower pace on the mountain but still want to have fun in the snow, cross-country skiing might be the choice for you. There are plenty of local paths, and you can even explore large trail systems with varying levels that offer lots more fun than just going down hills on your skis!
The best place for this would be Meany Lodge near Eaton or Iron Horse State Park along Highway 101 across from Mt Rainier National Park where there are also scheduled events throughout winter months including clinics taught by professional instructors who know their stuff well enough.
Taking a nature walk in winter is another wonderful activity that provides its own experience during the cold months. McCormick has over 7 miles of walking trails within the community that provide residents and visitors the opportunity to connect with nature right outside their backdoor. If you want to take a 10-minute drive, Coulter Creek Heritage Park provides a 2.7-mile loop with wonderful bird watching and is dog friendly.
For the entire family, head to McCormick Village Park for a few hours of fun on a winter day. The open area offers plenty: fenced-off dog parks where both big and small dogs can play; green spaces perfect for kids who need some running around while parents watched over them from afar (or even just letting your child romp alone); then there’s also an amazing walking trail that leads deep into trees–perfect if you’re looking forward something more adventurous than simply taking walks along roadways!
McCormick’s master-planned community is in Port Orchard Washington which is just right across the Sound from Seattle. Learn more about what is close to McCormick on the location page.
