At McCormick, healthy living is in our DNA. As we embark on a new year, it’s fitting to evaluate the best resolutions for healthy living in 2019. Here are our top 5:
A key to healthy living is exercise. Not only will it help you physically, it will help minimize stress and keep your mind sharp. So come up with a schedule for your exercise routine, and get creative! Now’s the time to try new activities, fitness classes, and meet new friends.
There is no shortage of opportunities to exercise at McCormick. Walk our miles of sidewalks and trails, or lace up your running shoes and cover lots of beautiful ground. Ride your bikes, swing a tennis racket, and shoot some hoops. It’s all here for you.
If golf is your calling, there’s nothing better than having an award-winning golf course right outside your door at McCormick Woods Golf Club. The McCormick Woods Clubhouse also puts on fun activities such as Yoga and Mimosas which will be coming on January 27th from 10am-11am. This event costs $20 per person and includes a yoga class and a mimosa. Friends are welcome! For more information and to sign up, contact Andrea Harris at 360-329-5241.
Are you looking to exercise indoors? There are many gyms and fitness centers near McCormick.
Exercising will also help you remember to drink lots of water, as so much good comes from this simple drink. Never leave home without your water bottle.
Rain or shine, clean, fresh, Northwest air is really healing to help you reduce stress and sleep better. So get outside and enjoy it! At McCormick, we love to get outside and enjoy our fresh air. If you haven’t yet checked out the Big Pond Trail at McCormick, be prepared for some gorgeous and tranquil moments. Our golf course location also provides a unique opportunity to preserve green space and maintain the beauty of our natural surroundings for all to enjoy.
Connect with neighbors to go for a jog, walk, or play a round of golf or tennis. Are you looking to meet new people? Try a book club, garden club, or bridge club, like those we have at McCormick. Clubs are a fantastic way to get out, meet people, and get to know your neighbors. Or you can always volunteer for a local non-profit organization such as the South Kitsap Helpline Foodbank or at one of the local schools. Wherever you chose to connect, the sense of community, being a part of something bigger than yourself, is invigorating.
Finally, make sure to see your doctor regularly – schedule that annual check-up! Prevention is the best medicine.
At McCormick we are fortunate to be just minutes away from top notch medical providers. Just down the road is the CHI Franciscan Harrison Port Orchard Urgent Care facility, open seven days a week with no appointment necessary. Kaiser Permanente also operates a Medical Center in Port Orchard, offering Family Medicine and Pediatrics, as well as a variety of specialty services.
CHI Franciscan is one of the largest health care systems in the Puget Sound and operates two hospitals just minutes from McCormick.
Centrally located, CHI Franciscan Harrison Medical Center is a community hospital serving Kitsap since 1918. Harrison Medical Center offers an impressive range of specialized services including surgical, general medical, intensive care, pediatric, maternity and comprehensive cardiovascular services, a state of the art radiation oncology center and Level III Trauma Center. Harrison Medical Center has received numerous awards and accreditations, and is the Olympic Peninsula’s busiest medical center offering excellent care to people in 4 different counties.
Just south of McCormick in neighbor Gig Harbor is St Anthony’s, another top-notch CHI Franciscan Health Hospital. Whether your family needs routine checkups, surgery or specialized care, you’ll find the care and services you need at St. Anthony’s.
The Bremerton Naval Hospital provides diverse, first class health care services for military personnel, their dependents and retirees.
When even more specialty care is needed, being in the Seattle-Tacoma area opens doors to world-renowned healthcare. For pediatrics, look no further than Seattle Children’s and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. For cancer care, you’ll find Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, combining the best treatments and technologies from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s, and the University of Washington Medical Center.
We hope this list inspires you in the coming year, and we wish you health and happiness for days to come. If you are looking for a new home, make a resolution to check out McCormick.
