Golf Course Homes Hold Their Appeal Across Generations
Many people find that the appeal of living on a golf course goes beyond golfing. True, having a golf course home means your neighbors become your friends and golfing buddies. But the beautiful landscaping and natural settings of golf courses are an enticement in itself.
For some, however, golf course homes are a family tradition. Just ask the Bjorkes of McCormick. They’re now in their fourth generation of living here. And for the third generation of the family, Bjorn Bjorke, golf is not only a passion but also a profession. Bjorn and Erin met in 2011 on a Caribbean cruise and had a long distance relationship between Bellingham and Port Orchard until 2013. They married in July 2016 and had a son, Ryder, in 2016. Bjorn was born in Tacoma and moved to Port Orchard in 1992. Erin was born in Portland and lived in Edmonds and Bellingham before moving to Port Orchard in 2013.
A McCormick resident since 1992, Bjorn is the general manager of the McCormick Woods Golf Club as well as the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Olympic College. His love for golf turned into a career, and he recently celebrated 22 years of working at the golf course.
His parents, Dave and Jan Bjorke, also live in McCormick, as did his grandmother, Dorothy. And since Dave and Jan own a restaurant in Port Orchard, we’re certain the family knows how to celebrate with their friends and neighbors. There’s, of course, plenty to celebrate when you live in McCormick. This is not just a golf community — there’s a neighborhood party, a club gathering or some other event happening every month.
“We love the McCormick Woods neighborhood with its timeless golf course, the beautiful landscaping, the spacious sidewalks and our caring network of golf friends and neighbors,” Erin and Bjorn say. “This time of the year, our family enjoys decorating for the holidays, having friends over to visit, looking at the neighborhood Christmas lights and listening to holiday music.”
Are you ready to embrace your own golfing lifestyle? McCormick is the only master-planned community in the Puget Sound region that is offering new golf course homes. Learn about our new builders, check out the many amenities and benefits of living at McCormick, and start planning your dream home.
We’d love to welcome you to the neighborhood. And around these parts, it’s never too wet or too cold to golf.
